Precast Reinforced Concrete Pipe

The choice of the century for longevity.

Reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) has a verified design life of well over 150 years. It’s this very resiliency and sustainability that have made reinforced concrete pipe the go-to choice in drainage and sanitary sewer systems since as far back as the 1800s in North America. Its proven design is confirmed—a reinforced structure that supports both the weight of the dead loads and live loads above. The structure of RCP stands the test of time by outlasting design expectations and providing excellent value to the end user. Concrete was “green” before going green was even a thing. We use building material that’s locally sourced such as aggregates, cementitious materials, U.S domestic steel and material that has minimal impact on the environment. This results in making RCP the lighter carbon footprint choice compared to alternative pipe products.

Our RCP pipe comes in a broad range of inside diameters, from 12” to 156”. We have manufactured D-loads per the direct design method up to 9150D. So whatever your RCP needs are, we’re your one-stop shop. Not sure? Let us jump in the think tank with you to solve whatever project you’re trying to tackle. You’ll find our background as manufacturers, engineers and contractors offers a birds-eye view as collaborative team players.

Precast RCP

Joints that keep soil and water at bay.

An RCP is only as good as the joints that hold it in place. Rest assured, our pipe joints can be manufactured to provide soil-tight (tongue-and-groove) or water-tight joints—and are designed to accommodate deflection or longitudinal movement with strength to handle shear or vertical movement. Thompson Pipe Group RCP is manufactured with bevels to incorporate designed radiuses of 22.5 feet, 45.0 feet and 90.0 feet.

Our precast concrete products are cast in a factory setting. That means our products benefit from the tight quality control you’d expect from a production plant. Highly controlled and under rigid production standards, our testing specifications meet or exceed all federal, state and local standards, including the following ASTM and ASSHTO specifications. Simply put, these bad boys stand the test of time.

ASTM C 76 / ASSHTO M170

Standard Specification for Concrete Culverts, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe

ASTM C 655 / ASSHTO M242

Standard Specification for Reinforced Concrete D-Load Culvert, Storm Drain, and Sewer Pipe
